edittext not editable

I guess I am late but use following together to make it work:

 android:inputType="none"
 android:enabled="false"

make edittext not editable android

EditText mEdit = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.yourid);
mEdit.setEnabled(false);

how to make edittext not editable in android studio

<EditText android:id="@+id/outputResult"
          android:inputType="text"
          android:editable="false"
          android:layout_width="fill_parent"
          android:layout_height="wrap_content"
          android:text="@string/result" />
